What do you mean by 'natural ingredients'?

To us, natural ingredients means pure, simple products of the earth. Our products contain only botanical oils and butter, pure essential oils, herbal extracts and clays. We don't use synthetic fragrances, preservatives, dyes or harsh synthetic chemicals. Using only natural ingredients means we can't make products that smell like banoffee pie strawberry ice-cream, but that's alright with us!

What do you use as preservatives?

We use natural Vitamin E as an anti-oxidant, Rosemary Extract and Grapefruit Seed Extract to preserve our products and prevent rancidity in our products. We are not comfortable using parabens (most commonly used preservative) and other synthetic chemicals due to the possible links to cancer and various dermatological issues.

I have very sensitive skin, can I still use your soaps?

Our products are made with pure, natural ingredients; many skin sensitivities are affected by synthetic ingredients which you won't find in Miche Wishi products! While by law, we cannot guarantee our products for individual sensitivities, we have recieved some great feedback about our products from customers who have sensitive skin!

Glycerin soaps in the shops are clear, why aren't yours the same?

'Glycerin soaps' are usually marketed as transparent, however, the addition of alcohol in the soap-making process helps achieve this transparency. Because alcohol can dry the skin, we feel that we don't need the luxury of transparency if it isn't going to be beneficial for our skin! Our soaps are make with the age-old 'kettle' method which lets the final soap retain it's natural glycerin.

Do you use lye in your soaps?

Yes we do; Lye (a.k.a. Sodium Hydroxide) is a necessary ingredient in the soap-making process. The reaction between lye and oils is what creates soap, but no lye is left in the finished soap because it is used up in the reaction. Our soaps are completely balanced so the reaction has the exact amounts of both lye and oil for a balanced reaction.

What is the shelf-life of your products?

Our products are all natural, so it is best to use them up as soon as you get them! The soaps have a shelf-life of 6-12 months, and in order to reap the benefits of the essential oils and extracts it's best to use them within 6 months of purchase. Keep the soaps out of direct sunlight and heat, and if you find a bar you had tucked away for more than a year, use it! The scents and qualities of the essential oils may have faded over time but it will still be a great bar of soap!

Are your products tested on animals?

No we do not test our products on animals, only on willing family members and friends! All our products are suitable for vegetarian and vegan customers since our ingredients are botanical in origin.

How do you fragrance your products?

We use high quality essential oils to give a gorgeous fragrance to our products. In addition to thier natural therapeutic qualities. they are far more superior to chemical man-made frangrance oils that may irritate sensitive skins.

Why aren't your soaps brightly coloured and smell like chocolate mousse?

We prefer not to use chemicals, so only botanical extracts, clays and herbs/spices find thier way into our products. While chemical colours and synthetic fragrances may be pleasing to the eye and nose, we choose to leave them out as they offer no benefits to the skin.
